Per the official Wacker Neuson operator manuals, the filter cartridge replacement procedure requires shutting off the diesel engine and removing the ignition key, allowing the machine to cool to below 30 degrees C (86 degrees F), and closing the fuel shutoff valve if the tank is installed in a high position. The vent screw is opened one turn, the water-in-fuel sensor is unplugged and backed out two turns, and the old cartridge is drained and removed. Before installing this new cartridge, a thin coat of oil is applied to the rubber seal, and the cartridge is hand-tightened until the seal contacts the filter head, then turned an additional half turn by hand. The fuel system is bled after installation.
