The ignition switch with preheating function controls the starting sequence and electrical system for trench rollers, managing four critical positions: Off (all electrical loads disabled), Position I (ignition on, all electrical consumers available), Position II (preheating activation), and Position III (engine start). This component integrates with the preheating indicator lamp (H2) and control relay system (K6 relay on wire 152, terminal S1-19) to ensure proper diesel engine cold-start performance.

During normal operation, turning the key to Position II activates preglow for a maximum of 6 seconds in temperatures below 0°C before advancing to Position III for starting. The switch interfaces with the ignition relay (K1) on terminals 15 and maintains coordination with the starter relay (K2) through terminal 50. If the preheating indicator lamp fails to illuminate when the switch is in the preheating position, this indicates ignition switch failure requiring immediate replacement to prevent starting issues.

The control unit will automatically shut off if the ignition key remains in Position I for more than four hours. This switch is essential for proper engine starting sequence and electrical load management.
