This trowel arm with lever assembly is a critical component that connects the trowel blades to the spider plate, enabling proper blade pitch adjustment and smooth rotation during concrete finishing operations. When trowel arms become bent from striking forms or rebar, the machine will not operate in a smooth, fluid rotation and will produce uneven swirls or bounce during operation.

The arm features both hexagonal and round shaft sections and must meet strict flatness tolerances for optimal performance. A feeler gauge of 0.004 inches (0.10 mm) should not pass between any of the six sides of the hex section and a flat test surface along its length. The integrated lever allows for precise blade pitch control adjustment using the trowel arm adjustment tool, with a specified 0.010 inch clearance at the adjustment bolt.

During maintenance checks, inspect trowel arms for bending and verify proper fit in the spider—excessive travel of more than 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) at the arm tip indicates replacement is necessary. It is recommended to inspect all trowel arms when replacing blades, as bent arms will cause uneven blade wear patterns and inconsistent concrete finishing.
