The pivot bearing enables articulated steering motion in the swinging joint assembly of trench rollers, serving as the critical rotational interface between the front and rear frame sections. This bearing must withstand constant pivoting loads during operation and requires periodic maintenance to ensure smooth articulation and prevent premature wear.

According to Multiquip service procedures, the pivot bearing is press-fitted into the bearing housing and requires specialized removal tools for extraction. Installation procedures specify using M12x100 screws with 20mm spacers to press the bearing from the bearing pin due to clearance limitations. The bearing housing requires 100g of Castrol Longtime PD2 extreme pressure grease (or compatible) for proper long-term lubrication. During reassembly, blue thread adhesive must be applied to mounting screws to prevent loosening under vibration.

The bearing is secured with a clamp ring that must be removed under press for bearing extraction. Proper installation orientation is critical—observe mounting direction when pressing the bearing into the housing. Chassis support with squared wood blocks is required during bearing replacement to maintain frame alignment.
