The right side pivot arm assembly is a critical component in the blade pitch control system of ride-on power trowels, allowing operators to adjust blade angle for proper concrete finishing. This assembly connects to the Twin Pitch™ control system, enabling synchronized blade pitch adjustment between both sets of trowel blades for consistent, even finishing across the entire concrete surface.
During routine trowel arm maintenance, this pivot arm should be inspected for straightness and wear. According to Multiquip service procedures, a feeler gauge of .004 inch (0.10 mm) should not pass between the flat of the trowel arm and a test surface along its length. Signs that pivot arm replacement may be needed include blades wearing unevenly, perceptible rolling or bouncing motion during operation, or guard rings rocking up and down while the machine is running. Bent or damaged pivot arms can result from rough handling, dropping the trowel on the pad, or striking exposed plumbing, forms, or rebar during operation.
The pivot arm works in conjunction with the spider assembly, bronze bushings, and wear plates to ensure smooth blade rotation. Proper adjustment requires setting the arm bolt distance to .010 inch clearance using the trowel arm adjustment tool (P/N 9177).
