This oversized piston ring set maintains compression and engine performance in Honda GX160K1QMX2/GX160U1QMX2 engines used in plate compactors. The 0.75mm oversize rings are installed during engine rebuilds when cylinder bore wear exceeds standard tolerances, restoring proper piston-to-cylinder wall clearance and sealing combustion gases.

The Honda GX160 engine in the MVC-90H delivers 5 HP at 3,600 RPM with 9.9 cubic inch (163cc) displacement. This air-cooled, 4-stroke OHV engine drives the eccentric weight to produce 3,350 lbs of centrifugal force at 5,600 vpm. Engine speed must reach approximately 2,300 RPM to engage the centrifugal clutch for proper compactor operation. Worn piston rings cause loss of compression, difficulty starting, increased oil consumption, and reduced power output—preventing the engine from maintaining the RPM needed for effective compaction.

Installing oversized rings requires cylinder honing or boring to the 0.75mm oversize specification. This ring set is critical for restoring engine performance during major overhauls when standard-size rings no longer provide adequate sealing.
