The infrared remote control unit enables wireless operation of trench roller functions from a safe distance, allowing operators to control compaction equipment remotely without being directly on or near the machine. This critical safety component uses infrared technology to communicate with the machine controller, providing precise control over drive, steering, and vibration functions.

The remote control unit operates within a 60-degree range with a maximum wireless distance of approximately 60 feet, or up to 11 feet when using the optional spiral cable for tethered operation. The minimum proximity range is 8 feet to maintain the safety zone. Before commissioning, operators must verify the IR transmitter battery status (LED must be lit) and pair the infrared transmitter with the machine controller. The unit is stored in a dedicated dashboard storage area alongside the spiral cable, positioned near the display unit, ignition box, and fuse panel. Proper use requires maintaining the specified angle ranges (40-60 degrees depending on position) for reliable signal transmission to the IR receiving eyes on the machine.
