This left-hand spider assembly is a critical rotating component that holds and controls the pitch of four trowel blades on ride-on power trowels. The spider consists of trowel arms, wear plate, and thrust collar that work together to deliver smooth, precise concrete finishing. During operation, the spider's adjustment bolts should barely make contact with the lower wear plate (0.10" max clearance) to ensure even blade wear and prevent trowel bouncing or uneven swirl patterns in concrete.

Spider assemblies require inspection when blades wear unevenly, when the trowel bounces or rolls concrete, or when bent trowel arms are suspected from rough handling or striking exposed plumbing, forms, or rebar during operation. Each trowel arm is held in place at the spider plate by a hex head bolt with Zerk grease fitting for proper maintenance. Technicians should wire brush any concrete buildup from all six sides of the trowel arms and verify that all alignment bolts are spaced evenly from the lower wear plate. Worn spider bushings or bent trowel arms will cause performance issues and should be replaced immediately to maintain blade pitch accuracy and concrete finish quality.
