The crank gear is a critical transmission component in the MTR-60L tamping rammer that converts the engine's circular motion into the powerful vertical impact force needed for soil compaction. This gear works in conjunction with the pinion gear and centrifugal clutch system to deliver the rammer's 2,140 lbs. per blow impact force at 600 blows per minute.

Operating at the MTR-60L's specified engine speed of 3800-4000 rpm, the crank gear must withstand continuous high-torque loads while maintaining precise timing for optimal tamping performance. The manual specifies that operating at half speeds or exceeding the recommended RPM can cause resonance issues and component damage, making a properly functioning crank gear essential for protecting the entire drive system. Regular greasing of the gearbox every 8 hours with Shell Darina EP2 or equivalent high-temperature grease helps extend crank gear life.
