The retardant spray pump delivers evaporative retardant through dual spray nozzles on ride-on power trowels, allowing operators to apply surface treatment during finishing operations. This electric pump pressurizes retardant from the onboard tank and distributes it through the spray system mounted on the trowel frame.

According to Multiquip service manuals, when the retardant spray system fails to operate, technicians should first verify retardant level in the tank and check all electrical connections including the master on/off switch. If the pump receives voltage when the switch is activated but does not operate and all electrical connections are verified as good, pump replacement is required.
