The crank gear is a critical transmission component in Multiquip tamping rammers that converts the engine's circular motion into the powerful impact force needed for soil compaction. This gear works directly with the centrifugal clutch system to transmit power from the engine through the oil bath lubricated gearbox, ultimately driving the rammer foot to deliver 675 impacts per minute at optimum operating speed of 5,500 rpm.

In the MT-60 series rammers, the crank gear operates within the oil bath lubrication system located in the gearbox and spring cylinder assembly.
