The spacer clutch drum maintains proper clearance and alignment in the centrifugal clutch assembly of Multiquip tamping rammers. This component is critical for power transmission from the engine to the rammer mechanism—when engine speed increases, the centrifugal clutch engages to deliver compacting force through the gearbox and spring cylinder system. Without proper spacing, clutch engagement can be inconsistent, leading to reduced tamping performance or accelerated wear on clutch springs.

In tamping rammers like the MT-60H/H2 and MTR series, the clutch must engage smoothly at the correct RPM to deliver the designed impact rate of 675 blows per minute at 5,500 rpm.
