The oil gauge protector shields the dipstick and oil filler neck assembly on Multiquip MTR series rammers from impact damage and contamination during heavy-duty compaction operations. This protective component is essential for maintaining accurate oil level readings and preventing debris from entering the engine's lubrication system.

On the MTR40HF rammer, proper oil level monitoring is critical—the engine holds a maximum capacity of 9.5 ounces (280 CC) and should be checked with the unit on level ground and the engine off. The dipstick must be removed without screwing it into the filler neck to get an accurate reading. Oil should be filled to the edge of the oil filler hole when low. Without adequate protection of the dipstick assembly, field debris and impact from jobsite conditions can damage the gauge mechanism, leading to inaccurate readings and potential engine damage from improper oil levels.
