The oil gauge protector shields the oil level sight glass on Multiquip rammers, preventing damage during operation and transport. The MT55F and MTR series rammers use an oil bath lubrication system for the gearbox and spring cylinder, making visual oil level inspection through the rear sight glass critical for proper maintenance. The MT55F manual specifies checking oil level through the oil level sight glass at the rear of the tamper foot before each operation.
