The spring cylinder is a critical component in the power transmission system of Multiquip tamping rammers, converting circular motion into the powerful compacting force delivered at the rammer foot. This component works in conjunction with the gearbox and centrifugal clutch system to generate 1,650-2,250 lbs. of impact force per blow at rates of 600-690 blows per minute. The spring cylinder operates within an oil bath lubrication system—proper oil level monitoring through the sight glass at the rear of the tamper foot is essential for optimal performance and longevity.
