The blade shaft/flange assembly is the critical rotating component that secures and drives the diamond blade on concrete saws, directly impacting cutting precision, blade performance, and operational safety. This precision-machined assembly includes the blade shaft and integrated flanges that properly mount the blade with correct arbor shoulder positioning to prevent misalignment, vibration, and premature blade wear.
The SP1G saw's robust blade shaft bearing assembly is engineered to ensure minimal flutter and shaft harmonics, providing optimal conditions for diamond blades operating at 6,000 RPM surface feet per minute. Regular lubrication of the blade shaft bearings via two zerk fittings is required before daily use with quality automotive or general-purpose grease. Technicians should check bearings and alignment integrity every 6 months or 100 hours of operation. Common symptoms indicating blade shaft failure include blades not cutting straight or true, excessive vibration, improper blade tracking, and difficulty maintaining proper blade depth control.
The blade shaft accepts 10-inch diameter blades with 5/8 inch arbor diameter, allowing cutting depths from 0 to 3¼ inches. Proper blade mounting on arbor shoulders and flanges is essential for safe operation and optimal blade performance.
