The outer belt cover protects the V-belt drive system on MVC88VTH and MVC88VTHW plate compactors from debris, moisture, and physical damage during operation. This cover must be removed during routine maintenance to inspect V-belt condition and tension, which should be checked regularly for proper compactor performance.

According to Multiquip service procedures, proper V-belt tension is achieved when the belt deflects 10-15mm when depressed at the midpoint between the clutch and vibrator pulleys. During inspection, examine the V-belt for cracks, fraying, missing rubber, oil saturation, glazing, cord failure, or sidewall wear—any of these conditions require immediate belt replacement. The cover is secured to the frame with four bolts that must be removed for access to the belt drive system.
