The throttle lever controls engine speed during startup and operation of Multiquip plate compactors, allowing operators to adjust RPM for proper warm-up cycles and optimal compaction performance. During cold weather startup procedures, the throttle lever must be positioned correctly while the engine warms up for 2 to 3 minutes at low speed before placing the compactor into operation. This lever works in coordination with the choke system—after the engine starts and the choke lever is gradually moved to the "OPEN" position, the throttle lever provides precise speed control throughout the compaction cycle.
