The IGX800 engine requires 4-stroke motor oil that meets or exceeds API service category SJ or later. According to Multiquip maintenance specifications, engine oil should be changed after the first month or 20 hours of operation, then every 6 months or 100 hours thereafter. Always check oil levels with the trowel secured on a level surface and engines stopped—pull the dipstick, wipe clean, reinsert fully without screwing in, then check that oil reaches between the upper and lower limit marks. When replacing the dipstick, ensure it is fully inserted into its holder to keep the crankcase properly sealed.

Never operate this engine without an air filter or with a damaged filter, as dirt entry causes rapid engine wear not covered by warranty. The dual-engine MD105 configuration requires proper maintenance on both engines for optimal trowel performance.
