The deadman cable assembly is a critical safety component that connects the deadman microswitch to the speed controller, ensuring the power buggy only operates when the operator is actively controlling the machine. This assembly integrates with the Curtis Model 1229 controller's safety circuit, interrupting power to the 24 VDC electric motor system when the operator releases the control handle.
In the TB11G/TB11PG wiring system, this cable connects through the 6-pin Molex connector configuration and interfaces with the brake microswitch circuit. The deadman switch operates as a normally closed (NC) safety interlock that works in conjunction with the emergency stop switch and contactor K1 coil to prevent unintended vehicle movement. When the deadman control is released, it breaks the circuit to the speed controller, simultaneously engaging the motor brake and cutting power through the 125A contactor fuse circuit.
This cable assembly is subject to wear from repeated flexing during normal operation and should be inspected regularly for fraying, damaged connectors, or circuit continuity issues. Failed deadman cables can result in loss of operator control or inability to start the machine.
