The drum and shaft assembly is the complete mixing chamber and drive shaft system for the EM12M series plaster/mortar mixer, providing the critical rotating drum and paddle shaft mechanism that handles the actual mixing operation. This steel drum assembly features a 12 cubic foot (340 liter) capacity designed specifically for mixing plaster and mortar compounds, with an optimal batch capacity between 3-1/2 and 4-1/2 bags. The integrated shaft connects directly to the clutch system, which when engaged moves forward toward the tow end of the mixer to begin paddle rotation.

The assembly includes zerk grease fittings on each end of the mixing drum that lubricate the dumping mechanism and should be serviced regularly as part of routine maintenance. The drum must be rotating during both filling and emptying operations, and should be thoroughly cleaned after each use to prevent material buildup. This is a complete replacement assembly for mixers that have experienced drum wear, shaft damage, or structural failure of the mixing chamber.
