The spider assembly is the critical hub that connects the gearbox output shaft to the trowel blades, transmitting rotational power to achieve consistent concrete finishing. This heavy-duty 4-blade left-hand configuration mounts directly to the vertical gearbox shaft via a cone point square head set screw and jam nut arrangement. The spider features four radial arms extending outward where trowel blades attach using bolts and lock washers.

This spider assembly is essential for maintaining proper trowel performance. Common failure symptoms requiring replacement include trowel bouncing, uneven swirls in concrete, wobbling during operation, or bent trowel arms that cannot be straightened. The spider arm fit must be precise to prevent pitch adjustment issues and ensure all blades maintain the same angle.
