The wormshaft is a critical gearbox component that transfers power from the engine to the mixing drum in Mix N' Go portable concrete mixers. This precision-machined shaft works within the gearbox assembly to convert rotational motion and provide the torque necessary for mixing concrete and mortar batches up to 3.0 cubic feet. When a wormshaft wears or fails, symptoms include unusual grinding noises from the gearbox, inconsistent drum rotation, or complete loss of mixing function.
The gearbox housing this component is factory-filled with EP90 gear oil and should be inspected when cold before any maintenance. These Mix N' Go mixers are designed for concrete and mortar production, powered by Briggs & Stratton 4-stroke gasoline engines, and can handle batch quantities ranging from 1/4 to 2/3 bag of cement depending on mix ratios. The steel drum models using this wormshaft have a maximum drum capacity of 4.5 cubic feet and typical unladen weights of 138 lbs with gasoline engines.
