The input helical pinion shaft is a critical component in the mechanical drive transmission system of plaster and mortar mixers, transferring power from the engine through the gearbox to drive the paddle shaft and mixing drum. This precision-machined gear shaft operates within the mixer's transmission housing, which requires regular maintenance with 1.27 quarts (1.2 liters) of gear oil, checked every two to three months and drained annually per Multiquip specifications.
When the clutch lever is engaged and pushed toward the tow end of the mixer, power flows through the input pinion shaft to rotate the 12 cubic foot (340 liter) mixing drum. Failure symptoms of a worn or damaged pinion shaft include grinding noises during operation, difficulty engaging the clutch, loss of power transmission to the paddle shaft, or complete failure to rotate the mixing drum. This component is subject to wear under the demanding conditions of mixing plaster and mortar compounds, making it an essential replacement part for maintaining mixer operation.
Compatible with the following Multiquip models:
- EM12M Series Plaster/Mortar Mixers
