The current selector switch assembly controls welding amperage output on your Multiquip welder, allowing precise adjustment across six factory-selectable settings from 40 to 135 amps. This OEM replacement part does not include the selector knob and is critical for matching electrode size and material thickness to your welding application.
The GAW-135H operates with a 40% duty cycle across all amperage settings based on 10-minute intervals. According to Multiquip specifications, proper current selection is essential—never regulate welding current by adjusting engine speed, and never turn the selector while actively welding to prevent equipment damage. The current selector must always be positioned at factory settings (40A, 60A, 80A, 100A, 115A, or 135A), never between settings. Operating range supports electrode sizes from 3/32" to 5/32" depending on current selection, with applications ranging from Fleetweld 5P+ E6010 to Excalibur 7018 E7018 H4R electrodes.
This component is essential for maintaining proper arc characteristics and preventing generator-welder overload. Failed or damaged current selectors can result in inconsistent welding performance, inability to adjust amperage, or complete loss of welding function.
