The thrust collar with bushing is a critical trowel arm mounting component that maintains proper alignment and reduces friction in the spider plate assembly of ride-on power trowels. This assembly includes integrated bronze bushings that must be inspected regularly for wear, out-of-round conditions, or damage during routine maintenance intervals.

According to Multiquip service procedures, if the trowel arm bronze bushing comes out with the trowel arm during disassembly, it should be carefully removed and set aside. If retained inside the spider plate, the bushing must be extracted with care. Bronze bushings should be examined and cleaned during maintenance, and replaced if found to be out of round or excessively worn. Proper bushing condition is essential for maintaining correct trowel arm clearances—specifications call for checking shaft clearance with a 0.005 in. (0.127 mm) feeler gauge when the arm rests on a flat test surface.
