The thrust collar bushing with hole is a critical wear component that prevents excessive play between the thrust collar and spider assembly in Multiquip power trowels. When this bushing wears beyond specification, it allows the thrust collar to tilt and rock on the spider, causing uneven rotor operation and surface defects in finished concrete.

According to Multiquip troubleshooting procedures, if the thrust collar can tilt more than 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) as measured at the thrust collar outer diameter, the bushing must be replaced immediately. This measurement is performed by rocking the thrust collar on the spider during routine maintenance inspections. Worn thrust collar bushings are a common cause of swirls and surface imperfections in concrete finishing operations. When replacing thrust collar bushings, technicians should also verify that the thrust collar itself varies no more than 0.02 inch (0.5 mm) when rotated on the spider, and that all trowel arm bushings are within specification.
