The spider kit is the heart of your ride-on power trowel's finishing system, consisting of four trowel arms, blades, wear plate, and thrust collar that work together to achieve a smooth concrete finish. This critical assembly attaches directly to the trowel's drive system and requires regular inspection for bent arms, worn bushings, and uneven blade wear to maintain optimal performance.

According to Multiquip maintenance specifications, spider assemblies should be inspected for trowel arm straightness and bushing tightness whenever blades wear unevenly or the trowel bounces during operation. Each trowel arm connects to the spider plate via hex head bolts with Zerk grease fittings and must be properly aligned so adjustment bolts barely contact the lower wear plate (0.10" maximum clearance). Bent trowel arms—even slightly—should be replaced immediately as they prevent smooth blade rotation and create uneven swirls in concrete. Wire brush concrete buildup from all six sides of each trowel arm during routine maintenance to ensure proper operation.
