The plunger arm is a critical mechanical component in Multiquip diaphragm pumps that connects the gearbox output shaft to the diaphragm assembly, enabling the pumping action that moves water and debris. This 3-inch plunger arm is essential for maintaining proper pump operation and preventing stalling when handling heavy debris-laden fluids in dewatering applications.

During operation, the plunger arm drives the diaphragm through its full stroke cycle. If large solids, sand, silt, or sediment accumulate in the pump well, the plunger arm may be prevented from completing its normal stroke, causing the pump to stall and potentially damaging the arm itself. The plunger arm attaches to the diaphragm retaining plate with four securing nuts and features a lock screw that must be torqued to 70 ft-lbs (9.6 kg-m) during installation or maintenance procedures.
