The flapper valve assembly is a critical component in the water flow control system of Multiquip diaphragm pumps, allowing water to flow in one direction while preventing backflow. This valve assembly works in conjunction with the diaphragm and waterbox components to maintain proper pumping action and prevent pressure loss that could affect priming and overall pump performance.

In Multiquip MQD2H and MQD2HA diaphragm pump systems, the flapper valve is housed within the waterbox assembly, protected by the plunger guard. These pumps are designed for reliable water transfer applications and require secure hose connections and proper maintenance to prevent suction leaks that could prevent the pump from priming. The connecting rod bearing should be greased every 25 hours of operation by removing the plunger guard to access associated components.
