Multiquip 522015 Power Unit - OEM Replacement Part for Ride-On Rollers

The power unit is the complete hydraulic propulsion assembly that drives both the front and rear drums on ride-on asphalt rollers, providing infinitely variable speed control from 0 to 4.8 mph in forward and reverse directions. This critical component includes the hydrostatic pump, valve block manifold with two relief valves, freewheel engagement valve, and front and rear drum drive motors that work together to deliver precise travel control through the forward/reverse travel lever.

In operation, the hydrostatic pump is controlled by a cable connected to the travel lever. When moved forward, high-pressure oil flows through port A of the valve block to drive the drum motors, with return oil cycling back through port B. In reverse, the flow direction switches automatically. The system operates at pressures up to 2,900 psi and includes an emergency freewheel valve that allows the roller to be towed if hydraulic failure occurs. This assembly is essential for maintaining proper compaction control during asphalt application and granular soil compaction operations.
