The ST41230 and ST41460 submersible pumps feature dual mechanical seals (lower silicon carbide vs silicon carbide, upper carbon/ceramic) housed in an oil chamber with 40 oz capacity. These seals are critical for preventing water from reaching the motor in high-head applications up to 138 feet. Incorrect shimming can lead to premature seal failure, oil chamber contamination, and motor damage.
