The suction hose is a critical component in the AR14H roller's hydraulic system, responsible for returning oil from the valve block manifold back to the hydrostatic pump. This hose connects to port A or port B on the manifold depending on travel direction—when the operator shifts the travel lever to reverse, port A becomes the suction side, drawing return oil from the drum drive motors through this hose back to the pump's suction side. A damaged or deteriorating suction hose can cause air infiltration into the hydraulic system, leading to reduced pump efficiency, cavitation, and potential damage to the hydrostatic pump that controls both forward and reverse drum drive functions.

In the AR14H's hydraulic circuit, the suction side operates at lower pressure than the high-pressure delivery side, but proper sealing is essential to maintain system performance.
