This directional control valve regulates hydraulic flow in the concrete pumping system, controlling the precise switching of hydraulic cylinders that drive the concrete pistons through their alternating pumping strokes. In trailer-mounted concrete pumps, the directional valve works in conjunction with proximity switches to coordinate the shuttle tube motion and slave cylinder operation, ensuring smooth transitions between piston strokes at pressures up to 4400 PSI in the main hydraulic circuit.

The valve interfaces with the accumulator system and main hydraulic manifold to direct oil flow between the pump and hydraulic cylinders. When operating in automatic pumping mode, this valve responds to proximity switch signals to reverse cylinder direction at the end of each stroke, maintaining continuous concrete flow through the delivery system. Proper valve function is critical for preventing hydraulic deadheading and ensuring synchronized operation of the A and B concrete cylinders.
