The safety air filter element serves as a critical backup filter for Multiquip diesel generator air intake systems, protecting the engine if the primary air cleaner element becomes damaged or fails. This secondary element is essential for preventing catastrophic engine damage from unfiltered air entering the combustion chamber.

According to Multiquip maintenance procedures, both primary and secondary air cleaner elements should be removed and inspected every 250 hours of operation. The elements should be cleaned with a light spray of compressed air while wearing approved safety glasses and dust masks. When servicing, release the air cleaner cover latches, remove both elements, and inspect for heavy dirt buildup, debris, or damage. In dusty or dry grass operating conditions, more frequent inspection is required as clogged air cleaners result in loss of engine power and efficiency.
