The clevis serves as the mechanical link between the brake cable and its actuating point, allowing the cable's linear pull to engage the brake system with precision. On ride-on floor scrapers like the T-3000EI, T-3000XME, and T-5500 PRO, which operate at variable travel speeds up to 200 ft/min in demanding flooring removal environments, a compromised clevis can result in delayed or unresponsive braking. Technicians should inspect this component during routine maintenance for signs of elongation at the pin hole, cracking, corrosion, or deformation of the clevis arms. Any of these conditions warrant immediate replacement before returning the machine to service.
When installing, ensure the clevis pin is fully seated and secured, cable tension is properly adjusted per machine specifications, and all fasteners are torqued to specification. Misalignment at the clevis can cause uneven cable wear and premature brake system failure.
