Belt tensioner assemblies on ride-on trowels are subject to continuous dynamic loading from engine vibration, variable torque demands, and exposure to concrete dust and debris. When a tensioner begins to fail, common symptoms include audible belt squeal, visible belt flutter under load, intermittent drive engagement, or a visibly slack belt at rest.
