This 10 x 8 x 30 mm parallel key seats in the exciter assembly of Wacker Neuson reversible and forward-moving vibratory plates, securing rotating shaft components within the exciter housing to transmit torque without slippage or relative movement between mating parts.

Installed in the exciter on models across the DPU 4045, DPU 4545, DPU 5045, DPU 5545, DPU 6055, and DPU 6555 series, as well as BPU 3545A through BPU 5545A platforms, this key sits in the keyway machined into the shaft and bore to maintain positive rotational engagement under the high-centrifugal-force loads these exciters produce. Wear, fretting, or shear of the key results in loss of drive, vibration irregularities, or audible rattle from the exciter. Inspection during exciter service or shaft seal replacement is a recommended practice given the key's location deep within the assembly.
