This standard piston ring set fits into the piston assembly of the GP 3800, GP 3800A, and GP3800 portable generators, sealing combustion gases within the cylinder bore of the Honda GX 240 single-cylinder, 4-cycle, air-cooled gasoline engine. The rings maintain compression and control oil consumption within the piston assembly, keeping the engine operating at its rated output of 6 kW (8 HP) at 3600 rpm.
Worn or damaged piston rings are a common cause of compression loss, excessive oil burning, and reduced engine output on high-cycle generator engines. Replacing the ring set as part of a top-end rebuild restores the compression seal between the piston and cylinder wall. This set is the standard (Std) specification ring set, corresponding to the standard bore diameter for the GX 240 engine used in these generators.
The GP 3800 series runs on regular unleaded gasoline and uses SAE 10W30 oil (service class SF, SE, SD, or SC), with an oil capacity of 1.1 liters (1.2 qts). When servicing the piston assembly, consult the Wacker Neuson repair manual for torque specifications and proper ring installation procedures.
Compatible with the following Wacker Neuson portable generator models:
